Description / Name of Room, Villas and Cottages

The Heritage Villa:
The Heritage Villa, located just beside reception and in close proximity to the restaurant, bar, pool and central courtyard was the previous residence of the ex chief minister. Though the civil structure of the building has been more or less been retained, many alterations have been made to enhance the character of building from the exterior and even more so with the interiors.

Twelve rooms are present in this building with one deluxe suite and the others being deluxe rooms. All the rooms vary in size with an average deluxe room size of 700 sq ft and the deluxe suite having an area of approximately 900 sq ft. Almost all rooms have verandahs offering a view of the famous Rumtek Monastery that overlooks the resort. The view is especially beautiful early in the morning and by the evening when lit up.

Another feature that one would find pleasantly surprising in all rooms of the resort is the relatively large bathroom sizes. The decor in the rooms is very much Victorian in style having a distinctive classic contemporary touch with the paintings that are again on the lines of spirituality.

The reason for the building being known as ‘The Heritage Villa’ is not for the age of the building in this case, but for the vast & rich collection of photographs that incorporates the history of this beautiful state of Sikkim which was once a separate Himalayan Kingdom till May 16, 1975 when Sikkim officially became the 22nd state of the Indian Union and the monarchy was abolished.

The Bamboo Retreat:
Located around the central courtyard and pool, the Bamboo Retreat comprises of 17 rooms of which one is a family room (two bedrooms) and the rest are deluxe rooms. Interiors are simple and elegant with all the rooms having verandahs with varying views of the central courtyard, the town of Ranipool and bamboo groves.

Room sizes are of an average of 600 sq ft and are part of the most vibrant part of the hotel with the fitness centre, swimming pool, pool and indoor games room, children’s nursery and the courtyard for cultural performances in close proximity. The rooms in this location are also especially enchanting because of the continuous rustling of the bamboo leaves. Because of this very reason, the rooms here are known as the Bamboo Retreat.

The Forest Retreat:
These rooms are located at a second level of the resort wherein guests take an elevator and then a brief golf cart ride to their rooms while passing the Jungle Cafe, Children’s playground and Electronic gaming area.

Of the 12 rooms located in the Forest Retreat, one is a luxury room and the other eleven are deluxe rooms. With an average room size of 600 sq ft, these rooms all have excellent views of the famed Rumtek Monastery. Subtle, lavish and large are a few words that describe these rooms, all having their private verandahs.

Abundance of natural surroundings with a variety of trees from Golden Bamboos to Bougainvilleas and rich avifauna that pleasantly wake you from your slumber every morning are some of the reasons why The Forest Retreat is called so.
